The Institute for Industrial Productivity Visits Jinan and Dezhou

Site visits and talks with Chinese and Australian energy management leaders.

On February 21st and 22nd, the Institute for Industrial Productivity visited various sites in the Shandong Province (Jinan and Dezhou) along with representatives from China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS), the General Manager of the Industrial Energy Efficiency Branch of the Australian Government Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism, and the director of Sustainable Business Pty (Australia).

The site visits were coupled with meetings focusing on Shandong’s energy management system (EnMS) implementation status and plans for next steps, Shandong enterprises experience with EnMS, case studies from the Australian EEO program, and key messages from the forthcoming IIP-IEA publication on policy pathways for energy management programs. This was followed by open discussions concerning benefits and barriers for EnMS adoption, Energy Management Tools and suggestions for EnMS scaling to other industry and enterprises.

The participants included Louise Vickery (Australian Government Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism, Industrial Energy Efficient Branch), Patrick Crittenden (Sustainable Business Pty Ltd), Jialing Hong (The China Sustainable Energy Program), Wang Geng (China National Institute of Standardization, Resource and Environment Branch), James Quinn (IIP), Dongmei Chen (IIP), Yongmiao Yu (IIP), and Julia Reinaud (IIP).
