Industrial Energy Efficiency Databases

IIP’s package of databases give industry and government decision-makers access to best practices in technology, policy, financing and supply chains.

Sharing Best Practices

  • IIP’s databases are publicly available and offered free of charge, as part of our mandate to increase industrial energy productivity in energy-intensive sectors. IIP endeavors to continuously improve the quality, and increase the scope, of information in these databases, and welcomes feedback and input from users to this end.

The Institute for Industrial Productivity continually scans the world for the best practices in technology, policy, programs, financing and supply chains and compiles information in a  package of Industrial Efficiency Databases. To maximize the impact of this information and accelerate introduction of energy efficiency measures in industry, IIP supports decision-makers by helping them to understand the application of these policies and practices to the their own local conditions.

Industrial Efficiency Policy Database

The Industrial Efficiency Policy Database (IEPD) provides information on industrial energy efficiency and greenhouse gas mitigation policies across countries. The database goes beyond simply listing policies to offer a layered analysis structured in a “Policy Pyramid” that connects various policies, measures and implementation tools. This structure helps policymakers, think-tanks, and others to understand the mix and relationships in a total policy package that can be applied within and across various countries.

IIP acknowledges SQ Consult, LBNL-China Energy GroupICF International and Ecofys for their valuable contributions.

Industrial Efficiency Technology Database

The Industrial Efficiency Technology Database (IETD) delivers rich and relevant information about the latest and best available technologies, tools and management systems to facilitate the accelerated and full commercial deployment of energy efficient and low-carbon technologies and practices in industry.

IIP acknowledges Fraunhofer ISIIREESLBNL-China Energy GroupE3M Inc.ISR-UC and Holtec for their valuable contributions.

Supply Chain Initiatives Database

The Supply Chain Initiatives Database (SCID) presents innovative approaches to engaging  industrial suppliers in efforts to save energy, increase productivity and improve environmental performance.

IIP acknowledges Ecofys UK for their valuable contributions.

Industrial Efficiency Financing Database

The Industrial Efficiency Financing Database (IEFD) identifies vehicles and programs that have successfully delivered industrial energy efficiency financing. See IIP’s Collection of Financing Best Practices to find out more about these initiatives.

Industrial Efficiency Programs Database

The Industrial Efficiency Programs Database (IEPrD) contains information about national level energy management programs, along with program descriptions, evaluations and assessments. The IEPrD also showcases successful North American state and provincial energy efficiency and resource acquisition programs that have successfully delivered energy efficiency in industrial companies – either through utilities or mandated third parties. Many of the programs examined in this database were the first of their kind and have been emulated in other countries, states and regions. IIP will continue to update this database with other successful energy efficiency programs from around the world – particularly where they relate to energy management systems, an increasingly hot topic amongst both government and industry.

IIP acknowledges Dan Trombley and Ethan Rogers of the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) and Robert P. Taylor of Energy Pathways LLC for their valuable contributions.
