IIP Joins Global Platform on Energy Efficiency

April 2, 2015
A new initiative involving government, NGOs and industry will drive energy efficiency across the globe.

IIP is pleased to be able to announce its participation in the highly-anticipated Global Energy Efficiency Accelerator Platform. The platform is being run by Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All), an initiative led by the UN Secretary-General and the President of the World Bank. Its objective is to help double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency by 2030.

The Accelerator Platform will work by securing commitments from both government and the private sector. At the same time it will create a collaborative network with NGOs and other international organizations to provide cities and countries with tools, resources and best practice information.

IIP is serving as a co-convener, alongside the United Nations Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), on the industrial energy efficiency stream of the project.

The Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator will provide four distinct offerings: (a) support for the development of energy efficiency policies; (b) capacity-building for the adoption of EnMS by enterprises; (c) financing solutions for both governments and enterprises; and (d) knowledge-sharing for industrial stakeholders. Another key focus will be helping to remove the barriers that hamper industrial companies’ efforts to improve their energy management.
