The Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP) is dedicated to increasing industrial energy productivity by promoting the efficient use of energy in selected energy-intensive industrial sectors. IIP gives governments and industries a global perspective on effective industrial energy efficiency options, and works at national and local levels to improve energy efficiency policies, practices and technology adoption.
IIP focuses on the countries and sectors that drive industrial demand and offer major opportunities for improvement in cement, iron and steel, and chemicals sectors in China, India and the United States. Read more about our strategy and goals.

How we operate
IIP provides advice and best practice information to industry and government, through free customized briefings, convening of specialized workshops, and direct assistance, drawing on the specialized experience from our wide range of partners and experts, to accelerate the implementation of energy efficiency in industry.
Many of our products and services – such as access to databases, our research, and our best practice expert workshops – are publicly available and offered free of charge, as part of our mandate to increase industrial energy productivity in energy intensive sectors.
Through tailored research and direct engagement, we work with financial institutions to help them understand the real risks and benefits of energy efficiency investment and the secure, innovative approaches to financing energy efficiency in industry.
We conduct demonstration projects with industrial companies and clusters to pilot new approaches to be replicated and taken to scale to achieve impact.
We partner with industry associations to develop and promote tools and market-based programs that help member companies capitalize on cost-effective solutions that improve their productivity and competitiveness.
Much of our value is in our convening power. We regularly organize workshops that bring together industry executives, policymakers, NGOs, international organizations, providers of energy efficient services and technology, technicians, and practitioners to share information, best practices, and solutions to difficult problems.
