The US Department of Energy (DOE) has just published a slew of valuable resources on energy use, new technologies and energy efficiency.
These vital resources include their Energy Bandwidth Studies, which analyze energy use and the potential for energy savings in various processes for selected manufacturing sectors. The first sectors to be studied are chemicals, pulp and paper, petroleum refining, and iron and steel. The studies have not been published in nearly a decade.
DOE has also just published their Quadrennial Technology Review 2015. The Review looks at the status of science and technology in the US energy sector as well as emerging trends.
It states that “America is in the midst of an energy revolution.” It cites figures related to the reduction of dependence on imported petroleum and the increase in renewables as well as improved energy efficiency.
Chapter 6 of the Review focuses in on clean energy technologies in advanced manufacturing.
